Rape in Alwar, 40 minutes of brutality in Delhi hours later: Accused's horrific crime trail

Police recovered the victim’s mobile phone from a park area after it was dumped by the accused. Investigations continued with additional statements and collection of samples.

Meena was produced before a magistrate and remanded to four-day police custody. In later interrogation, he made statements admitting the crime, including: 'Mujhse apradh ho gaya... Galti ho gayi' and 'Galti hogayi. Maine paise ke liye kiya. Fingerprint chahiye tha locker kholne ke liye.'

Meena left the residence by autorickshaw and reached a hotel in Dwarka. He was arrested from the hotel the same evening after police traced him via CCTV and transport records.

The victim, an IIT graduate preparing for civil services, was found by her parents around 8:00 am. She was taken to AIIMS Delhi and declared dead after medical assessment.

He attempted to open a biometric locker using the victim’s fingerprint, failed, then forced it open and stole cash and jewellery worth ₹12 lakh. He changed his clothes before leaving.

Investigators say Meena pressed the victim’s throat, strangled her with a charger wire, and assaulted her as she refused to give money. The postmortem later indicated the assault occurred while she was unconscious.

Around 6:30 am, CCTV footage shows Meena entering the residential complex in south Delhi and reaching the victim’s third-floor house, where the attack took place.

Meena left Alwar early Wednesday morning after the incident. He reportedly sold a mobile phone for ₹10,000, hired a van promising the driver ₹6,000, did not pay the driver, and used another phone later switched off as he moved toward Delhi.

Police say the accused, Rahul Meena (23), first allegedly raped a friend’s wife in Alwar on Tuesday night. The complainant linked Meena and the husband through gambling. After the assault, Meena fled the area.
