Punjab Congress plans chargesheet and statewide yatras against AAP government

May 9, 2026

The Punjab Congress will soon release a ‘chargesheet’ against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the grim state of affairs in Punjab, alleging rampant corruption and a deteriorating law and order situation. Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Congress General Secretary in charge of Punjab, Bhupesh Baghel, presided over a meeting of the party unit here in the run-up to the Assembly election due early in 2027. The meeting, attended by senior leaders from across the State, served as a platform for an intensive brainstorming session. Baghel stated the party will hold yatras in all 117 Assembly segments across the State in the coming days, with a three-day yatra in each constituency to reach out to people, understand their issues, and learn about their expectations. He also linked the recent bomb blasts in Punjab to a shared responsibility of both the State and central governments, noting that public safety is their responsibility.
