In April 2026, two separate instances of ganja seizure totaling a little over 25 kilograms were recorded at the Tiruchi railway junction by GRP and Narcotic Intelligence Bureau CID. The contraband was found concealed in a trolley suitcase and travel bags in the general compartments of Bhubaneswar-Rameswaram and Purulia-Tirunelveli inter-State express trains after they arrived at the Tiruchi junction. The seized packets were handed over to the Narcotic Intelligence Bureau CID, Tiruchi unit for further action.
