Kavitha launches Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS) and calls KCR 'soulless'

Telangana Jagruthi president and KCR's daughter Kavitha launched a political outfit named Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS) and outlined a five-point agenda focusing on social justice, free education and healthcare, and employment. She accused KCR of losing touch with the Telangana movement and stated the new party would be a vehicle to fulfill people's aspirations. She announced a commitment to free education from primary to university, universal free healthcare, dignity and institutional support for farmers, and entrepreneurship support for unemployed youth with financial assistance. She also pledged to fill four lakh government vacancies, to contest the upcoming mandal parishad, zilla parishad, and GHMC polls, and highlighted her two decades of work with Telangana Jagruthi and Bathukamma programs. The flag of TRS features yellow, blue, and green colors with a blue map of Telangana and the acronym TRS.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao told reporters last week that the party would consider reverting to its original name TRS, with the final decision to be taken by KCR soon.

K Kavitha was suspended from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in September 2025 after she accused her cousins and party leaders T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar of tarnishing her father and BRS president Chandrasekhar Rao’s image over the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was renamed Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in October 2022 as part of KCR's national ambitions.
