Delhi Jal Board revives decade-old Wazirabad upgrade plan
The Delhi Jal Board plans to revive the Wazirabad water treatment upgrade, decentralising the plant into two units (80 mgd and 40 mgd) and initiating major upgrades with a tender floated. The move follows past funding withdrawal by ADB, a 2026 CAG report on project progress, and revised cost estimates with potential ADB support.
Why It Matters
The project affects Delhi's water supply to millions. Its revival, funding outlook, and governance oversight have implications for public utility management and regional development.
