April 22, 2026

At the Indian Federation of Green Energy's Green Transport Conclave, Gadkari stated that India should aspire to 100% ethanol blending in the near future, citing energy vulnerabilities due to the war in West Asia. He noted that the Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency III standards will be implemented from April 1 next year (April 1, 2027) and will have little impact on electric and flex-fuel vehicles. He highlighted that India imports about 87% of its oil requirements and argued for increasing production of alternative fuels and bio-fuels.
