The program covers 33,157 solar-based rural water supply schemes across 67,013 villages, benefiting nearly 2.07 crore households and an estimated 13.30 crore people. The solar-powered schemes are designed for a 30-year lifecycle with a total capital expenditure of about ₹7,812 crore. By contrast, implementing these schemes with conventional power would require a one-time connection cost of about ₹2,487 crore and annual power expenses of ₹1,115 crore. Based on a 60-month breakeven period, projected savings over 30 years are about ₹28,112 crore, rising to roughly ₹37,395 crore with an annual 2% tariff escalation.
