Unprovoked Acts Of Terror: UAE Minister To NDTV On Iran's Drone Attacks

Al Hajeri said the UAE had worked through international platforms, including the United Nations, the International Civil Aviation Organisation and the International Maritime Organisation, to build consensus condemning Iran's actions.

Al Hajeri noted that Prime Minister Modi has stated the Strait must remain open, secure and accessible, and the UAE is prepared to contribute to any multilateral effort to guarantee this outcome.

Al Hajeri emphasised that the Strait of Hormuz is a global lifeline, with about 20% of the world's energy, 25% of gas flows, 30% of fertiliser for global food production, and nearly 70% of petrochemicals passing through daily; the Strait must be reopened fully and without restriction.

Al Hajeri said the UAE maintained direct coordination with the Government of India to protect the welfare of the approximately five million Indians in the UAE.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited injured civilians in hospital, including an Indian national, affirming they are all the UAE's responsibility.

Al Hajeri said the UAE's multi-layered air defence system intercepted the vast majority of threats, and that the armed forces operated with discipline, restraint and professionalism, drawing recognition from allies.

The minister noted that before the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran took effect, the UAE endured more Iranian strikes than any other country, though most were intercepted.

Al Hajeri stated that Iran launched more than 2,800 missiles and drones at the UAE, more than at any other neighboring country; the UAE’s multi-layered defence system intercepted the vast majority of incoming threats.
