On the morning of May 7, 2026, a Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team from Nuh police intercepted a pickup vehicle near a checkpoint along the Nuh–Tauru road after receiving specific information about suspicious movement, as part of a special operation. An exchange of fire occurred when the suspects allegedly attempted to evade arrest, resulting in bullet injuries to both suspects’ legs. The injured, residents of Ghata village, were taken to Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College in Nalhar; their condition is reported as stable. Police seized the pickup vehicle and two cattle, and a case under Sadar police station has been registered. Superintendent of Police Dr Arpit Jain said the operation was conducted in self-defence and that the crackdown on illegal cow smuggling would continue; authorities are identifying other individuals involved in the network.
