The Supreme Court, in a hearing based on suo motu cognisance of the issue of video coverage in police stations to prevent custodial torture, asked amicus curiae and senior advocate Siddharth Dave to convene a meeting of representatives of States and Union Territories to discuss utilisation of Central funds to install CCTV cameras in police stations. The bench, headed by Justice Vikram Nath, requested that the meeting be held on May 6.
