Southern Command Chief Reviews Operational Preparedness in Gujarat

The visit concluded with 'Shaurya Sandhya', a cultural and martial programme attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The event featured performances by Army personnel, NIFT students showcasing Indian fashion in khadi, classical Bharatnatyam, and martial displays.

Lt Gen Seth and Komal Seth, Regional President of Southern Command Army Women Welfare Association, interacted with and facilitated Veer Naris (widows of fallen soldiers) and Veer Matas (mothers of martyrs), acknowledging their courage and sacrifice.

Army Commander inaugurated a mega surgical eye camp organised with specialist ophthalmic teams from Army Hospital (Research and Referral), New Delhi. The camp screened over 2,500 patients from more than 120 remote villages and restored vision to over 200 beneficiaries.

Lt Gen Seth oversaw the large-scale Defence of Gujarat Exercise, which validated operational readiness, multi-agency coordination and rapid response mechanisms in challenging terrain and operational environments.

Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command, conducted a comprehensive operational review in Gujarat with particular focus on preparedness along Creek and Kutch sectors.

Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh visited forward areas in the Creek Sector in Bhuj, Gujarat, interacting with Lt. General Dhiraj Seth and senior officers. He witnessed the multi-agency Exercise 'TATRAKSHA' showcasing integration of Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, BSF and allied security agencies in coastal and amphibious operations.
