The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that large parts of south and central Mumbai will experience an 18-hour water shutdown to facilitate pipeline work in Sewri. Two 1,500 mm butterfly valves will be installed on a tunnel pipeline linked to the Bhandarwada Hill reservoir, with the aim of streamlining water distribution to several reservoirs. The shutdown is scheduled from 10:00 on April 22 to 04:00 on April 23. Affected areas include wards A, B, C, E (partial) and F South, with varying levels of water outage and low-pressure conditions in several pockets. Hospitals such as JJ, Kasturba and Nair are expected to receive water at low pressure. Residents are urged to store water in advance and use it sparingly.
