Railways to intensify patrolling and expand surveillance
Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu said that 24-hour patrolling will be intensified and surveillance along tracks expanded following the blast site visit between Shambhu and Rajpura. He spoke during a site visit and pledged strict and immediate safety enhancements.
Investigation reveals international backing and links
DGP Gaurav Yadav said the terror module involved in the Shambhu blast was backed by a Malaysia-based entity, with financial support routed through Malaysia by the main handler using the name Jujhar Singh. The module was in touch with USA-based Surinder Singh Thikriwal and Pakistan-based Ranjeet Singh alias Neeta via a well-layered network. Investigations are also evaluating involvement of this module in the Sirhind Railway Track IED blast (January 23, 2026) and the grenade attack on CIA Moga (November 6-7, 2025).
Raid at Panjwarh Khurd, Tarn Taran; seizure of heavy munitions
Patiala Police, in a joint operation with State Special Operations Cell Amritsar, conducted a raid on Panjwarh Khurd village in Tarn Taran and seized substantial military hardware, including one rocket-propelled grenade, one metallic IED weighing 2.296 kg with three detonators and a battery, two packs of RDX weighing 1.456 kg and one P-86 hand grenade.
Arrests of four terror module members after blast
Hours after the explosion, four members of a pro-Khalistan terror module were arrested: Satnam Singh alias Satta and three others identified as Pardeep Singh Khalsa, Kulwinder Singh alias Bgga, and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi. Police said a hand grenade, two .30 bore pistols, technically sophisticated communication devices and laptops were recovered from their possession, along with other seizure details disclosed by authorities.

On the night of Monday, April 27, 2026, a blast occurred on the Shambhu rail track as part of the Patiala freight corridor incident.
