April 23, 2026

Amritsar police and Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav announced the arrest of Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha, 21; Sola Singh alias Sonu, 29; and Karan Singh, 22, all residents of Sahanke village in Ferozepur. During the operation, a .30-bore pistol was recovered initially, and on disclosure by the accused, 915 grams of ICE and four more pistols were seized, making a total of five pistols recovered (including two 9mm Glock pistols and three .30-bore pistols) along with two live cartridges. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Amritsar commissioner of police, said the operation was based on secret information and led to the arrests. Investigators stated the trio were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers via social media and were receiving contraband through drones from across the border, acting as local handlers for drug and arms distribution. The drops were reported in forest areas of the Ferozepur sector, from which the accused retrieved the consignments. A case under NDPS Act Section 22-C and Arms Act Sections 25(6,7(iii),8) was registered at Gate Hakima police station in Amritsar.
