PCMC launches footpath clearance fortnight; encroachment drives across city through May 15
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation intensified an anti-encroachment drive under a special footpath clearance fortnight from May 1–15, with multiple ward-level actions to reclaim roads and footpaths. The drive saw seizures of stalls, handcarts, crates, and other encroachments across F ward, Bhosari, Rahatani, and other areas, and materials were deposited in municipal godowns.

In Rahatani, action was undertaken on May 4 along the Jagtap Dairy to Pimple Chowk stretch, including Kunal Icon Road and Govind Garden areas, with encroachments such as carts, pani puri stalls, coolers and plastic crates removed. Fruits including mangoes, bananas and coconuts were seized and sent to charity. In Bhosari, operations continued along Alandi Road and near the Bhosari theatre area.

In F ward, action continued along the RTO Road stretch and Dehu-Alandi Road. In Bhosari, teams conducted operations along Alandi Road and near the Bhosari theatre area. Seizures included handcarts, weighing scales, boards, tables, umbrellas, clothes and footwear bundles.

In F ward, action was taken on May 2 along the RTO Road stretch from Triveni Nagar Chowk to Talawade Chowk and in the Dehu-Alandi Road area. Officials seized a large number of encroachments, including stalls, handcarts, plastic crates, iron racks, signboards, chairs and tables.
Start of footpath clearance fortnight
PCMC announced the start of a special footpath clearance fortnight from May 1 to May 15 to reclaim public spaces by removing encroachments from roads and footpaths across multiple areas to ease traffic congestion and improve pedestrian safety. Officials said seized material will be deposited in designated municipal godowns. The drive is conducted under the guidance of municipal commissioner Vijay Suryavanshi and additional commissioner Trupti Sandbhor, with ongoing work in Pimple Saudagar and H zone areas.
