Over 1 lakh farmers contributed land to make Ganga Expressway possible: Yogi

The expressway, connecting Meerut to Prayagraj and passing through 12 districts, is described as an access-controlled highway with accompanying plans for industrial and logistical development along its corridor.

Governor Anandiben Patel, deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Union minister of state for finance and BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary, and other dignitaries were present at the event.

The CM stated that before 2017 the state faced an environment of familism, casteism, riots, anarchy, curfews and mafia rule, but in the past nine years the double engine government built a vast network of approximately 4 lakh kilometres of expressways, highways, district roads and rural roads, strengthening interstate connectivity and linking district headquarters with four-lane roads and blocks/tehsil hubs with four-lane and two-lane roads.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed that 27 integrated industrial clusters and logistics hubs are being developed along the Ganga Expressway to open new avenues of investment and employment.

Following inauguration, Modi carried out a plantation drive and visited an exhibition organized by the UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 594-km Ganga Expressway at Hardoi by pressing a button. The expressway connects Meerut to Prayagraj and passes through 12 districts.

At the event, it was stated that more than one lakh farmers across 12 districts contributed land for the Ganga Expressway, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath thanking the annadata farmers for their support in making the project a reality.
