Noida Woman, 31, Dies 5 Months After Marriage; Family Alleges Harassment

Twisha's family requested sealing of the matrimonial house due to fears of evidence tampering, citing the retired judge status of Twisha's mother-in-law and the husband's profession as a lawyer.

Police registered an FIR against Samarth Singh for dowry harassment and abetment to suicide, with Twisha's mother-in-law Giribala Singh named as an accused.

Short post-mortem report states death due to ante-mortem hanging by ligature, with multiple ante-mortem injuries. Viscera and blood samples were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory, nail samples preserved, cellotape and clothes sealed, and the uterus preserved for histopathological examination.

Twisha was taken to a hospital located about 10 minutes away and was declared dead on arrival around 11:30 pm.

At 10:05 pm, Twisha spoke with her mother to describe harassment at her matrimonial home. The call ended when her husband entered the room. The family tried to reconnect with Twisha, Samarth, and her mother-in-law Giribala Singh from 10:15 pm onward, but there was no response until 10:20 pm, when they were informed she was not breathing.

Medical termination of Twisha's pregnancy was performed about one week before her death, following pressure and coercion from her husband and in-laws; she had earlier expressed a desire to carry the pregnancy to term.

Twisha Sharma married Samarth Singh in December 2025, approximately five months before her death reported in May 2026.
