Gorakhpur Eco Park inauguration and cleanliness initiatives

April 24, 2026

The Chief Minister inaugurated the newly developed Eco Park at the Ekla embankment and outlined the vision to make Gorakhpur a seven-star garbage-free city, aiming to place it among the top three in Swachh Survekshan. He dedicated the Eco Park and the Nausad–Malauni four-lane road to the public, recalled prior conditions when visitors from Lucknow or Varanasi faced large garbage dumps, and highlighted ongoing projects under the CM Grid scheme, including smart roads, expansion of green belts, mini forests, solid waste management, and drainage infrastructure. Officials noted that approximately 2.26 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste were scientifically processed to develop the Eco Park, which now features children’s play areas, yoga and meditation spaces, and family recreation facilities. The CM launched the Swachh School Campaign with a sanitation toolkit, pledging more than one lakh students to spread cleanliness awareness and promote the RRR model Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. He flagged off new municipal vehicles, including Poclain machines, CNG vehicles, skid loaders, and mortuary vans, and later visited the Eco Park to review facilities with municipal commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal and plant a sapling. Mayor Dr Manglesh Srivastava credited the transformation to the chief minister’s guidance, noting decades-old waste cleared and the site turned into a scenic picnic spot.
