MCG ramps up anti-waterlogging works ahead of monsoon in Gurugram

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) outlined expanded anti-waterlogging works ahead of the monsoon. In a review on May 2, 2026, officials reported progress on pond revival, rainwater harvesting structures, and micro STPs, including plans to connect ponds to master stormwater drains.

Review meeting on pond revival, RWH, and micro STPs

May 2, 2026

In a review meeting held on Saturday, MCG officials assessed progress on pond revival, rainwater harvesting (RWH) structures and micro sewage treatment plants (STPs). Desilting and excavation work to increase pond capacity are underway, with a plan to revive 28 ponds—selected for being near low-lying or waterlogging-prone areas. Ponds will be linked to master stormwater drains to divert and store excess rainwater. Villages identified include Basai, Kanhai, Fazilpur, Jharsa, Kadipur, Sirhaul and Sukhrali, among others. About 28 of the city’s roughly 70 ponds are planned for connection to GMDA’s master drains; an aerial survey has been conducted and linkage work is expected to be completed by May 30.
