A Crime Branch Central Range team arrested Virkesh alias Birkesh alias Vicky, 47, a native of Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, from Sector 26, Chandigarh, where he had been living under a false identity as an Indane Gas supplier. The arrest followed inputs that he was in Chandigarh and involved sustained surveillance. He reportedly moved from Uttar Pradesh to Haryana and then settled in Chandigarh, frequently changing mobile numbers and addresses to remain undetected. He has been involved in as many as 13 criminal cases, including robbery, burglary, theft, and offences under the Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act.
