May 13, 2026 – Families hold meeting; demand access to black box data and greater involvement in investigation
A group of family members held a meeting in Ahmedabad to press for access to raw data from the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR). They urged AAIB India and called for a more active role by UK AAIB, including access to probe material. They asked investigators to examine whether the Ram Air Turbine was deployed on the ground. The families plan a religious function at the crash site on June 12 for the first anniversary, subject to permission; if permission is not granted, at least 100 families will organize a function elsewhere in Ahmedabad. They noted that while most families have received compensation, some seek government mediation for full compensation. Hetal Prajapati, widow of victim Mahesh Kalavadiya, said she remains jobless since her husband’s death, and Mohammad Rafiq called for the black box data to be made public.
