At the CII Annual Business Summit 2026, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh stated that India aims to become a fully integrated, self-reliant, all-domain military capable of projecting power across the Indo-Pacific by 2047. He described a transition up to 2030, a consolidation from 2030 to 2040 during which Mission Sudarshan Chakra matures, and an era of excellence from 2040 onwards. He emphasized strategic autonomy, deepening defence partnerships with like-minded democracies (through the Quad or the EU), and conflict-prevention approaches, while noting vulnerabilities in global supply chains and digital infrastructure. He stressed the need to become a global defence manufacturing hub under Atmanirbhar Bharat.
