Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh announced that hydraulic parking facilities would soon be constructed in Shimla, with about 15 locations selected, as part of the state's urban development scheme at a cost of ₹1,200 crore. He spoke on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the 14th district Shimla ITI (Women’s Category) sports meet (held at Chaura Maidan from April 24 to 27). Singh said the project would significantly improve traffic management and parking availability. He noted that the Union ministry has assured priority projects worth ₹1,200 crore will receive immediate approval upon submission of detailed project reports.
