Hydraulic parking to be developed in Shimla; 15 locations selected, ₹1,200 crore project announced

Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh announced that hydraulic parking facilities would soon be constructed in Shimla, with about 15 locations selected, as part of the state's urban development scheme at a cost of ₹1,200 crore. He spoke on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the 14th district Shimla ITI (Women’s Category) sports meet (held at Chaura Maidan from April 24 to 27). Singh said the project would significantly improve traffic management and parking availability. He noted that the Union ministry has assured priority projects worth ₹1,200 crore will receive immediate approval upon submission of detailed project reports. Proposed measures include alleviating congestion in key areas of Shimla, development of hydraulic parking systems, laying underground utility pipelines, and establishing planned urban townships such as Kangra Aerocity. Earlier addressing the gathering, Singh emphasized the importance of sports for holistic development and announced ₹41,000 from the MLA Fund toward the successful organisation of the sports meet.
