HSPCB issues notice to 217 Manesar construction sites over dust norms

Officials stated that a second phase of enforcement will involve on-ground inspections to verify compliance at the identified Manesar sites, including checks on barricading arrangements and whether their height meets prescribed standards.

The HSPCB issued show-cause notices to owners of 217 construction sites in Manesar (over 500 square metres) for alleged violations of dust mitigation norms. Reported violations include non-functioning web-cameras used for remote monitoring, inadequate green cover, and absence of protective sheets to contain dust emissions. The notices indicate that environmental compensation may be imposed after reviewing responses. The sites are monitored via an online portal where owners must register and upload self-audited compliance reports every 15 days (and, as stated by officials, every two weeks). Siddhartha Bhargava, regional officer, noted discrepancies in project records and that enforcement will proceed to on-ground checks later.

HT reported that the Haryana State Pollution Control Board issued show-cause notices to 58 construction sites in Gurugram for alleged violations of dust-control norms. Officials also noted that about 566 construction sites in Gurugram are registered on the monitoring portal.
