Ghaziabad police crime branch arrested two accused: a 20-year-old man from Chipiyana underpass near NH-9 and a 23-year-old man from Vijay Nagar. Over 500 CCTV cameras were scanned before the arrests. The two other suspects, including a wood-shop owner in Vijay Nagar, remain absconding. Police recovered ₹8.6 lakh, the Baleno, an axe, and an illegal weapon from the accused. The remaining cash is believed to be with the absconding suspects.
Cash van robbery on NH-9 near Crossings Republik
Unidentified armed suspects hijacked a cash van after overpowering the driver. The van staff went toward an ATM to deposit cash. A shot was fired in the air as suspects fled with ₹27 lakh. A gray Baleno car was parked near the scene from around 10am; three suspects drove the van on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway while the Baleno followed without registration plates. The robbers damaged the van’s CCTV and cash boxes with an axe and escaped with the money, later changing the Baleno’s appearance to avoid detection. The van reportedly had ₹90 lakh on the day, with ₹60 lakh transferred to another cash van and some cash deposited in ATMs and the van.
