Around 1:00 pm on May 7, 2026, three armed men approached a cash replenishment van parked on National Highway-9 near the Bagu area, adjacent to Crossings Republik in Ghaziabad. One assailant fired a shot in the air, and they forcibly took the van with four staff aboard, fleeing with an estimated ₹20 lakh. The van had arrived to fill cash at an ATM located in a congested lane and was parked on the highway, about 100 metres away from the first ATM. The staff had gone to fill cash in the first ATM, which is about 50 metres from the highway. The incident is understood to have occurred around 1 pm, with the driver alone inside the vehicle. The van was later dumped near Kushaliya village in Masuri and found abandoned about 15 km away on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.
