Fire at Anantraj Estate in Gurugram destroys two flats; residents protest alleging builder negligence

Despite several attempts, the builder could not be contacted.

The protesters demanded 100% compensation for financial losses and urged investigations into the entire society's fire safety and electrical audits, stating that legal action should be taken against negligent maintenance officials.

Vaishali, another victim, said the flat is uninhabitable and they had to seek shelter at neighbours' homes, criticizing the builder's negligence.

Ankit Sethi described a short circuit in his flat due to faulty electrical fittings. He said those inside— including a seven-month pregnant maid, an elderly mother, small children, and his wife— were trapped as he claimed the builder's firefighting equipment failed and the fire hydrants and equipment were mere showpieces.

On Saturday, residents rallied within the society premises, leveling allegations of negligence and inadequate services against the builder and maintenance company. They demanded immediate replacement flats and 100% compensation, and stated that a formal police complaint had been filed by affected families.

A massive fire broke out in two luxury flats at Anantraj Estate in Sector 63A, Gurugram, resulting in two flats being completely destroyed.
