Based on the complaint filed by NHAI incident manager Pradeep Kumar, Kokhraj police registered an FIR on the night of May 8 against the said dhaba owner and around 50 unidentified accused. Kokhraj SHO Chandrabhushan Maurya stated that an investigation is underway and action will be taken against those involved based on the findings.

An NHAI team, acting on instructions from traffic officials, reached the site near Jaiswal Dhaba in Kokhraj on May 6 to seal an illegal highway cut flagged during an inspection. Circle officer (traffic) Santosh Singh had spotted the cut and informed NHAI incident manager Pradeep Kumar. The NHAI team proceeded to seal the opening, but the dhaba owner arrived with nearly 50 unidentified persons who allegedly abused and assaulted the team, forcing them to halt the work. A complaint was subsequently lodged at Kokhraj police station by Kumar.
