Investigators say the victim, a 22-year-old IIT graduate and civil services aspirant, was raped and strangled with a mobile charging cable inside the home. The entry was facilitated by the suspect's knowledge of a hidden smart-card position kept outside the house for domestic staff. The family described their security as strong, with a digital lock on the main door, a steel gate before the staircase, and another door outside the lift on the third floor. The steel door could only be opened with a smart card. The couple would take their own smart cards for return and leave a spare outside the house for helpers, a spot all domestic helps, including Meena, knew about.
