Inspection at Government Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Roop Nagar; directive to conduct structural audit of all government schools

May 8, 2026

During Friday morning's visit, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inspected Government Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Roop Nagar, interacted with students, and reviewed the school's water facilities, toilets, and fire safety measures. Students reported non-functional RO systems and water coolers, broken toilet doors, irregular cleaning, and inconsistent water supply, along with a shortage of teachers. Gupta announced a structural audit of all government schools, stating the exercise will assess structural stability as well as drinking water arrangements, sanitation, hygiene and fire safety preparedness, with directions issued to the concerned departments. She noted that nearly 700 government schools may require new buildings or extensive redevelopment due to aging infrastructure and criticized the previous government’s education model for unresolved basic issues. Further inspections are expected in the coming weeks. The Aam Aadmi Party did not respond to Hindustan Times for comment by publication time.
