DDA drone survey for Yamuna O-zone Phase 2 begins; encroachment drives underway, NGT case

The Delhi Development Authority has begun a drone survey to identify Yamuna’s O-zone under Phase 2, with boundary digitisation already completed in February 2026. An encroachment removal drive in mid-April cleared multiple acres around Madanpur Khadar, Jhangola, and near the old ITO barrage, while DDA submitted details to the NGT on April 20 and urged police vigilance.

Why It Matters

These steps aim to protect floodplain land and enforce planning rules around Yamuna’s O-zone, involving legal oversight, enforcement, and coordination with police and municipal authorities.
