Police chased Balwant, who was in a Ford Figo car near Sector 45. He tried to ram his vehicle into police cars and was arrested near Sector 63. Balwant, a resident of Dhanas, was found in possession of a country-made pistol and two live cartridges. During interrogation, he disclosed that he purchased weapons from Rayeen and sold them to Ranjit and Subash in the tri-city.
April 18, 2026: Sanju Kanchu arrested near Sector 39 grain market turn
The operation cell of Chandigarh Police arrested Sanju Kanchu of Maloya near the Sector 39 grain market turn, recovered one semi-automatic pistol and one live cartridge. During interrogation, Kanchu disclosed that he procured weapons from Anas Rayeen, who is allegedly in touch with Pakistani gangster Shehzaad Bhatti. Rayeen is reportedly in Ambala jail after he along with two others were caught near Ambala with approximately 2 kg of suspected RDX explosives. After Kanchu’s disclosures, Rayeen was brought on a production warrant.
