Around 5:00 am, during vehicle checking in Khurja police station limits, police attempted to intercept two suspects on a scooter. The suspects allegedly fired at the police as they tried to flee. The police retaliated in self-defence, leading to a brief gunfight in which Jeetu Saini was shot multiple times. He died at a local health centre and was later declared dead at the district hospital. Two police personnel were injured; Ramphal Singh (SHO) and Kapil sustained non-serious injuries, while Mohammad Aslam (inspector) and Mohit Malik (head constable) were injured and shifted to a higher medical facility. The assailant accompanying Saini escaped. A .32 bore pistol, the scooter, and many live and spent cartridges were recovered from the spot.

Three relatives of local corporator Sanjay Saini were killed during Jeetu Saini's birthday party at RJS Fitness Gym in Khurja. The victims were Manish Saini (30), his nephew Akash (19), and his cousin Amardeep Saini (32). The violence began after a minor altercation when one of the victims smeared cake on Jeetu Saini's face; Jeetu and associates allegedly opened indiscriminate fire. Investigators say Jeetu, a former local political functionary, used a weapon belonging to one of his associates and fled after taking away the CCTV digital video recorder from the gym.
