BMC proposes 50% reduction in parking norms for star hotels within 2 km of Mumbai airport

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is considering amendments to the Development Control and Promotion Regulations (DCPR) 2034 to allow up to a 50% reduction in mandated parking for star-category hotels near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The modification would amend regulations 33(4) and 44 under section 37(1) of the MRTP Act, 1966, with conditions that full parking requirements would apply if the hotel’s use changes in the future.

Why It Matters

If approved, the changes could ease development norms for hotels near Mumbai airport but may affect parking supply and future urban planning requirements.
