Bandi Sanjay seeks removal of content linking him to son's POCSO case; defamation suit filed in Hyderabad court

Bandi Sanjay Kumar, a Union minister, reportedly approached the Hyderabad City Civil Court with a defamation suit. He seeks removal of and directs media houses and digital platforms to stop circulating content that allegedly links him to the POCSO case involving his son Bhageerath. The petition includes two interlocutory applications: (1) directing satellite channels and social media platforms not to broadcast or publish defamatory content about Bandi Sanjay in connection with the case, and (2) immediate removal of defamatory content broadcast over the past week. The counsel warned of contempt of court for non-compliance and indicated that legal action will be taken against violators as per the court's directives.

The Telangana High Court did not grant any interim protection from arrest in Bhageerath's anticipatory bail petition. Justice T Madhavi Devi resumed hearings on Friday evening, hearing until nearly midnight, with orders expected on the next vacation court day. Bhageerath's counsel sought interim protection from arrest until orders were issued.

Bhageerath Bandi Sai Bhageerath was booked by the Petbasheerabad Police Station under Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for outraging modesty and sexual harassment, and under Sections 11 and 12 of the POCSO Act, on May 8, 2026.
