AIIMS autopsy finds strangulation and neck injuries in Kailash Hills rape-murder case

Samples of viscera, ligature material with tape lift, nail scrapings, blood on gauze, and swabs from private parts were preserved for forensic examination.

An AIIMS autopsy report found death due to strangulation following an assault. The neck showed intramuscular hemorrhage in the sternocleidomastoid, sternothyroid and sternohyoid muscles, with fracture of both horns of the thyroid cartilage; the hyoid bone was intact. All internal organs were congested, consistent with asphyxial death. Abrasions and bruises on the arms indicated a struggle, and samples were preserved for further forensic testing.

The victim was taken to Fortis Escorts Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

After the assault, Meena fled the scene with approximately ₹2 lakh in cash and ₹10 lakh worth of jewellery stuffed into a black backpack. He changed out of his bloodstained clothes and shoes before leaving at 7:15 am.

In Kailash Hills, the accused entered the fourth-floor apartment at 6:39 am while the victim’s parents were away. CCTV showed him in the locality around 6:30 am and leaving around 7:15 am, spending about 40 minutes inside. He demanded cash, pressed the victim’s throat, strangled her with a charger wire, and attacked her with a water bottle and a lamp. He allegedly raped her while she was alive but unconscious, then dragged her body down stairs to access a fingerprint-protected locker.

Meena reportedly hid on Kali Pahari hill for over two hours to evade angry villagers after the Alwar incident.

Hours earlier on the same day, Meena reportedly raped another woman in Rajasthan's Alwar.

Meena was produced before the Saket court. He told the magistrate, 'Galti hogayi. Maine paise ke liye kiya. Fingerprint chahiye tha locker kholne ke liye.' (I made a mistake. I did it for money. I needed the victim’s fingerprint to open the locker.)

Rahul Meena, 23, a former house help, was arrested from a hotel in Dwarka around 8:00 pm on April 22, 2026, in connection with the Kailash Hills case.
