AAP raises questions about Delhi school's trust records in three-year-old assault case

AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj raised questions about the school’s management and alleged irregularities in records maintained at the Sub Registrar’s office. He claimed the SS Mota Singh (Nila) Charitable Trust, which runs the school, had undergone trustee changes and named Amarjeet Singh, Dr Virendra Kumar Aggrawal, Swati Garg, and Manish Gupta as trustees. Bharadwaj cited a Facebook post by Amarjeet Singh Babbu, allegedly associated with BJP leaders, thanking a Delhi minister for appointing him as a trustee and noted the post was later deleted, raising questions about political links to the trust. He also alleged the victim’s parents saw the school manager Manjeet Singh Aulakh at the police station and claimed he was close to another BJP leader. The school’s Janakpuri location is near Delhi education minister Ashish Sood’s residence, and Bharadwaj alleged a government-supported event had been held at the premises earlier this year. He urged the government to make the trust-related records public. The Delhi government and BJP leaders named in the allegations had not issued a public response by publication. Delhi Police stated the investigation had been conducted in a “fair, professional and impartial manner.”

A female teacher from the school was arrested in connection with the case and was sent to one-day police custody for questioning.

The Dwarka court granted bail to the accused caretaker despite prosecution opposition. Delhi Police said it would challenge the bail order before the Delhi High Court.

According to police, the incident came to light on May 1 after the child’s mother filed a complaint at Janakpuri police station. The child identified a 57-year-old school caretaker as the accused, who was arrested on May 1 and sent to judicial custody. A case was registered under Section 64(1) of the Bharati Nyaya Sanhita and Section 6 of the POCSO Act, with CCTV footage, DVRs and other evidence seized.
