Based on a tip-off, police surrounded Aamir near the Neveria Bypass. When signalled to stop, he fled on a motorcycle, fell during the chase, and opened fire on officers. In retaliatory fire, Aamir was wounded in the chest and died at the district hospital. An SOG in-charge’s bulletproof jacket was damaged, and a sub-inspector and a constable were injured. A pistol, empty cartridges and a motorcycle were recovered from the scene.

Mother's body found; investigation reclassified as homicide

Ghaziya Khatun’s body was recovered from a nearby drain bearing multiple injury marks, indicating she too was a victim. The case was treated as homicide, and investigators noted that Aamir, who lived about 400 metres from the victims’ house, had been missing since the day of the murders and emerged as the prime suspect.
