DUSIB repairs to facilitate future rehabilitation
DUSIB is also undertaking repair work on about 1,000 flats in Sultanpuri, 980 flats in Dwarka Sector 16B, along with thousands of flats in Jahangirpuri and Bhalswa, which will be used for future rehabilitation projects.
Cluster land ownership and household counts
The 11 clusters include VP Singh Camp (Tughlaqabad), Alam Bund (Jahangirpuri), Rajiv Camp (Saidabad), Mahiwal Saraswati Camp (RK Puram), Dhobi Ghat No.27 near Mirdar Road at Maulana Azad Medical College campus, Ranjeet Road Camp near Lok Nayak Hospital, and Bhai Ram Camp, Masjid Camp, and DID Camp near Race Course Road. In total, 2,236 households are slated for relocation, with land distribution across 632 units on L&DO land, 1,047 on MAMC land, 298 on IIT Delhi land, and the remainder on land owned by DMRC, MCD and the Container Corporation of India.
Relocation charges demanded and payment status
DUSIB officials stated that relocation charges are being demanded from the land-owning agencies: ₹94 crore for slum clusters on MAMC land and ₹23.15 crore for those on IIT Delhi land. The residents will be rehabilitated only after these charges are deposited; as of the report, the deposits had not yet been made.
Directive to relocate 11 slum clusters on priority due to location
A senior government official said that a committee headed by the secretary of the urban development department directed that the 11 slum clusters be taken up on priority because of their location, indicating a prioritization based on location for relocation.
HT report: DUSIB clears the way for Savda Ghevra rehabilitation; 717 flats allocated and 1,400 flats made habitable
Hindustan Times reported that in a sub-committee meeting, DUSIB said that of the 2,416 Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) Economically Weaker Section (EWS) flats at Savda Ghevra, 1,400 have been made habitable. The government is restoring these old flats to be used for rehabilitation of more slums in coming months. The report also noted that 717 EWS flats in Savda Ghewra are being allocated to slum dwellers from three camps located near the Prime Minister’s House on Race Course Road.
